Cute, future fluff about Shawnough Skyping
Derek sighed flipping through the channels on the TV. He was sprawled out on the bed bored out of his mind. Suddenly, a wave of loneliness overtook him as he realized how empty the king size bed felt with out his wife. He was choreographing a piece in Australia and Shawn wasn’t able to come with him because of her own schedule, which he hated. Being with out her was a strange thing and he didn’t like it one bit.
Looking at the clock beside the bed, he quickly did the math in his head. It was about 12 in Australia, so it was about 8 back in California. Grabbing his laptop, he logged onto Skype and searched his contacts for the person he wanted.
Seeing her name, he saw she wasn’t on. Disappointed, he was about to shut his computer, when he remembered that she had set her phone to let her know when he tweeted.
Logging into twitter, he sent out the tweet, “@derekhough: @shawnhough I miss you Skype me” Waiting a few minutes, he read through the tweets of those he was following and some mentions.
Suddenly, he heard the ring of someone trying to video chat him. He smiled and answered it as soon as he saw her name. When her face appeared on the screen, he couldn’t help but wish he was seeing it in person instead.
"Hey babe," he lovely voice rang through the speakers. "How’s everything down under?"
He was sure his face was lit up like a light, but he couldn’t have cared less. “Good, we’ve got to tweak a few things with the routine, but I think it’ll go well. How about you, holding things down?”
Since before they got married, both of them had great ambitions. Shawn was obsessed with fitness and wanted to open her own gym and Derek wanted to open a dance studio. Combining their dreams together, they opened a gymnastics gym, regular gym, and dance studio in their own plaza like area.
She nodded, “Yeah, it’s going well, I’m going to open up soon. I just miss you a lot. When are you coming home again?”
"I miss you too, babe. I wish you could’ve come with me," he said with a sigh. "I’ll be back soon. The show’s on Tuesday, so I’ll be home the next day."
"But it’s only Thursday!" she complained. They usually weren’t away for so long, it had already been nearly a week since they had seen each other in person and neither were coping well.
"I know baby, but when I get back I’ll make it up to you okay?" he told her, realizing how far away Wednesday seemed. Checking the time, he was glad he didn’t have rehearsals until the evening.
That seemed to make her perk up though, “Ooh! How?” She loved when Derek did romantic things for her, they were always so creative and sweet, though she shouldn’t have expected anything less from him. Nevertheless, he had never failed to make her smile and feel like a giddy school girl.
Chuckling at her adorable response, he replied cryptically, “I guess you’ll just have to wait until Wednesday to find out. You’ll have something to look forward to.”
Shawn gave a cute pout that nearly made him crack, “Please??? How about just a hint?” He knew she was bargaining, but it was hard to resist her.
Holding firm, he shook his head, “No. No hints, you have to wait.”
A frown formed on her face, “Fine.” Seeing him yawn, she reluctantly added, “You should get some sleep it must be pretty late over there.”
He nodded, “Okay, I love you babe. See you soon.”
"I love you too, good night!" She said before ending the call. Closing his laptop, Derek switched of the TV and light. Getting comfortable, he quickly drifted off hoping the days until he say his beautiful wife would fly by.
